Let the power of the Holy Spirit come upon me, O Lord +. May he mercifully cleanse my heart and defend me from all adversities. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

In Union, dear Lord, with the faithful at every table of your Church where the people receive Holy Communion, I desire to offer you praise and thanksgiving. I believe that you are present in a special way in Communion. Since I cannot now receive the memorial you commanded, I call into special remembrance that on the Passover feast before you were betrayed, you took bread and wine and gave it to the disciples to eat and drink saying this is my body broken for you, and this is my blood shed for you, do this in remembrance of me. I recall you gave us a new command to "Love one another." I recall your sacrifice of suffering and death for the remission of sin for the whole world, your resurrection, and your glorious ascension. I recall that you promised that you would come again in Glory. I ask that you now come spiritually into my heart +. I unite myself with you, and embrace you with all the affections of my soul. Let me never be separated from you. Let me live and die in your love. Amen

Come Lord Jesus, Maranatha.! Dwell in me in the fullness of your strength, in the perfection of your ways, and in the holiness of your spirit, and rule over every hostile power in the might of your Spirit, and to the Glory of the Father. Amen

"Whoever eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day "Amen

I give you thanks, Holy Father, for your holy name, which you have made to tabernacle in our hearts, and for the knowledge and faith and immortality, which you have made known unto us through your Son Jesus; yours is the glory for ever and ever. You, Almighty Master, did create all things for your name's sake. Before all things we give you thanks that you are powerful; yours is the glory for ever and ever. Amen

Remember, Lord, your Church to deliver it from all evil and to perfect it in your love; And gather it together from the four winds -- even the Church which has been sanctified + -- into your kingdom which you have prepared for it; For yours is the power and the glory for ever and ever. May grace come and may this world pass away. Hosanna to the God of David. If any man is holy, let him come; If any man is not, let him repent. Maranatha. Amen

recessional hymn

Praise the LORD, all you nations; laud him, all you peoples.
For his loving-kindness toward us is great: and the faithfulness of the Lord endures for ever. Hallelujah ! Amen

  Instructions

"It is the duty of every Communicant to receive the Holy Communion frequently after due preparation [every Sunday in the early Church]; and to contribute regularly of his substance, as God shall prosper him, to the maintenance of the worship of God, and the spread of the Gospel.
If any man, by reason of great sickness, or any other just impediment, be not able at any time to receive the Sacrament of Christ's Body and Blood, yet if he do truly repent him of his sins, and steadfastly believe that Jesus Christ hath suffered death upon the cross for him, and shed his blood for his redemption, giving most hearty thanks for the benefits he hath thereby, he doth indeed eat and drink the Body and Blood of our Saviour Christ profitably to his soul's health, although he do not receive the Sacrament with his mouth."
