Sixth Sunday after Trinity
for Legionary Nathan and his Friends

O GOD, who has made such good things for those who love you that it goes past our knowing; Pour into our hearts such love toward you, that we, who love you above all things, may receive your promises, which are greater than anything we could wish for; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

BIBLE STORY
**** Matthew 5:20 ****

Unless you do far better than the Pharisees in the matters of right living, you won't know the first thing about entering the kingdom. You're familiar with the command to the ancients, 'Do not murder.' I'm telling you that anyone who is so much as angry with a brother or sister is guilty of murder. Carelessly call a brother 'idiot!' and you just might find yourself hauled into court. Thoughtlessly yell 'stupid!' at a sister and you are on the brink of hellfire. The simple moral fact is that words kill. This is how I want you to conduct yourself in these matters. If you enter your place of worship and, about to make an offering, you suddenly remember a grudge a friend has against you, abandon your offering, leave immediately, go to this friend and make things right. Then and only then, come back and work things out with God.

LESSON
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace and Peace be with you Christ's Soldier!

In this Sunday's bible story, we see Jesus teaching again. He tells the people to be good. There were some called Pharisees who pretended to be good. They would cheat the widows and orphans. Jesus wants the people to be good way down in their hearts.

He then warned them of some bad things: They should not call their neighbor bad names. They should not be angry without a good reason. They should not call anyone a "fool". They should not use other mean words to hurt people on purpose. That does not mean that you should not call a robber a thief... that is ok, that is what he is!

Jesus also says that we shouldn't go to church and just pretend to be holy. If somenone has somthing agiainst us we need to make that right. We first ought to go and clear that debt. Then when we go to church, we can give a good gift.

Bless you and all that are with you.
