healing on the Sabbath, Bible History 1372
"Is there anyone here who, if a child or animal fell down a well, wouldn't rush to pull him out immediately, not asking whether or not it was the Sabbath?"

BIBLE STORY
****Luke 14: 1-6****

One time when Jesus went for a Sabbath meal with one of the top leaders of the Pharisees, all the guests had their eyes on him, watching his every move. Right before him there was a man hugely swollen in his joints. So Jesus asked the religion scholars and Pharisees present, "Is it permitted to heal on the Sabbath? Yes or no?"

They were silent. So he took the man, healed him, and sent him on his way. Then he said, "Is there anyone here who, if a child or animal fell down a well, wouldn't rush to pull him out immediately, not asking whether or not it was the Sabbath?" They were stumped. There was nothing they could say to that.

LESSON
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Grace and Peace be with you Christ's Soldier!

Today we hear of the time that Jesus went to a big house to eat with some important men from the Church. Now in those days, they had some very special rules about what you were to do on the Day of Rest. God told the people of Israel that they should not work on the Sabbath. Then a long time after that, the religious men made up lots of rules for the Sabbath. Jesus asked them, "Is it OK to heal a man on the Sabbath? They would not answer him.

Jesus then healed a man who was sore in his joints. Jesus told the ruler of the Church that it was the right thing to do. He asked the people if they would help an animal on the Sabbath. It is the same thing to help a sick person. They could not argue against that.

Would you help a poor animal on the Sabbath? Would you help a person in a car crash? Jesus wants us to be helpful everyday. We should set aside times to rest from our work, and to worship God too. But we should always be ready to do good. That is what our prayer asks, that God would show us the good we should do.

Well, that is all for this week. May God bless you and your family.
