Sixteenth Sunday after Trinity
for Legionary Nathan and his Friends
O LORD, we beg you, let your daily pity clean and defend your Church; and, because it cannot continue in safety without your support, keep it in goodness forever by your help; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
"Young man, I tell you: Get up."
BIBLE STORY
****St. Luke 7:11****
Jesus went to the village Nain. His disciples were with him, along with quite a large crowd. As they approached the village gate, they met a funeral procession—a woman's only son was being carried out for burial. And the mother was a widow. When Jesus saw her, his heart broke. He said to her, "Don't cry." Then he went over and touched the coffin. The pallbearers stopped. He said, "Young man, I tell you: Get up." The dead son sat up and began talking. Jesus presented him to his mother. They all realized they were in a place of holy mystery, that God was at work among them. They were quietly worshipful—and then noisily grateful, calling out among themselves, "God is back, looking to the needs of his people!" The news of Jesus spread all through the country.

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Grace and Peace be with you Christ's Soldier!
Today's Bible story is about a great miracle. Jesus raised up a boy from being dead, so that he lived again. Jesus was at the gate of a town. He saw all the people come by in a funeral procession. He saw a woman who cried for her son who had died. Jesus had compassion on her; he had pity for her because she was so sad.
So Jesus decided he would do something very special. He told the people who carried the boy to stop. Then he went over and put his hand on the boy. He said to him... "Get up!" The boy did just what Jesus told him. He sat up and the mother was very happy.
All the people who saw this were amazed. They said, "who is this man?" They thought, he must be from God; a holy man. They were right. Jesus is the Son of God. God sent Jesus into the world to heal the sick, make the lame walk, and the dumb to speak. Everyone began to talk about Jesus and the good work he did.
In our prayer today, we ask Jesus to have pity on all the Christian people. We call that the "Church". It is not just a building where you go on Sunday. The real church all of the faithful people of Christ around the world... that is the Church Militant... or Church Struggling.. day by day here on earth.
The Church is also all those who have lived and gone on to Paradise. They are waiting for the last great day when Jesus will raise up all the dead, just like he did the boy in the city of Nain that we read about.
Until that last great day, Jesus has pity on his Church that he loves. He and the Father send the Holy Ghost to be with us to help us. All the angels who minister to God may also help us. Jesus keeps us safe and helps us to do good.
Have a good week. Keep up your prayers and believe that Jesus will help you too.
