Quinquagesima Sunday - the next before Lent
for Legionary Nathan and his Friends
O LORD, who has taught us that all that we do without love isn't worth anything; send to us your Holy Ghost, and pour into our hearts the most excellent gift of love, for it is the glue for peace and all good things, and without love, people are like dead men before you. Grant this for you only Son Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.
Love is patient, love is kind
BIBLE STORY
**** 1 Corinthians 13 ****
Saint Paul writes a letter about Love
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but I do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away everything I own, and if I give over my body in order to boast, but do not have love, I receive no benefit.
Love is patient, love is kind, it is not envious. Love does not brag, it is not puffed up. It is not rude, it is not self-serving, it is not easily angered or resentful. It is not glad about injustice, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends. But if there are prophecies, they will be set aside; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be set aside. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part, but when what is perfect comes, the partial will be set aside. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. But when I became an adult, I set aside childish ways. For now we see in a mirror indirectly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Grace and Peace be with you Christ's Soldier!
Today we heard Saint Paul in a letter he wrote to the Church at Corinth. He was explaining how important love is. This is one of my favorite stories. I like to read this for people getting married.
Now this isn't the love you see on romatic shows on TV. This isn't the love you have for a pet. This is not even the love that your Momma and Daddy have for you.
This is a special love, because it has nothing to do with the way you feel. It has to do with the way you act with other people. You don't even have to like them, but you do have to be patient and kind.
For this love you are happy for other people. You hope they will do well. You help other people to do. You believe that other people will do good. You pray to God for them. This is the love that God wants us to have for our neighbors. It is the same kind of love you have for yourself.
God even asks us to love our enemies in this way. That does not mean that we should ever act like a bad person to be friends with them, but that we should pray that they would be good and help them to be good.
Love is the one thing that will last forever. You see, that is becasue God is love, and God cannot die. Everything else will come to and end, but in the end there will be God, and his love.
I want you to practice love. Try to be nice to everyone, and kind. Try to help them. Love even those who are mean to you. Always be true to what is right! That is part of love too. Ask God. He will help you to do this thing.
That is all for this lesson. Have a great week, and may God's blessing be on you and all your family. /s/ Granddaddy
