Emil Kapaun

O Eternal Lord God, who holdest all souls in life; Vouchsafe, we beseech thee, to thy whole Church in Paradise and on earth, thy light and thy peace; and grant that we, following the good example of Chaplain Emil Kapaun, and all those who have served thee here, and who are now at rest, may at the last enter with them into thine unending joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Chaplain Emil Kapaun remained with the wounded soldiers when the 8th Cavalry was overrun by the Chinese in Korea. He effectively influenced the Chinese not too shoot prisioners to ill to walk. He continued to serve his cure in the POW camp bringing to them spiritual comfort. His actions under fire earned him the Bronze Star before his capture, and the Distinguished Service Cross for his military service. He has been recommended for the Congressional Medal of Honor.
