Annual Anniversary of the Dedications of the
Order of Centurions
and the
Chapel of the Centurions
[September 29]
May be observed on the Sunday following

O GOD, whom year by year we praise for the dedication of this Order; Hear, we beseech thee, the prayers of thy centurions, and grant that whosoever shall worship before thee through the Order, may obtain thy merciful aid and protection; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O EVERLASTING God, who hast ordained and constituted the services of Angels and men in a wonderful order; Mercifully grant that, as thy Miliant Archangel Michael and all thy holy Angels always do thee service in heaven, so, by thy appointment, they may succour and defend us on earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

1 St. Peter ii. 1.

LAYING aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Psalm 122

St. Matthew xxi. 12.

JESUS went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of them that sold doves, and said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased, and said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

Let us pray:

O God of all sanctification, Almighty Sovereign, whose goodness is felt to be infinite; who art present throughout all things at once, in heaven and earth, keeping thy mercy for thy people who walk before the presence of thy glory; Hear the prayers of thy servants, that thine eyes may be open upon this Chapel of the Centurions day and night; graciously accept this Chapel, set apart by holy rites in honor of the Centurions of Capernaum, Calvary, and Caesarea; mercifully illumine and brighten it with thine own glory. Favorably accept every one who worships here; graciously be pleased to look down, and for the sake of thy great Name, and high arm, readily protect, hear, and everlastingly keep and defend, those who make their prayer here; that they being always happy, and always rejoicing in, thy true religion, may constantly persevere in the Universal Faith of the Holy Trinity; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Christ, our Leader in life's battle; We pray thee; love all fellow officers of the Order of Centurions and teach them to love thee with all their hearts and minds that they may think and speak and do only such things as are well-pleasing to thee. Give them ready grace always to be strong and good, faithful and brave soldiers. Give them the courage to boldly witness their faith in thee by their thoughts, words and actions. Graciously assist them with thy heavenly help that they may ever diligently serve thee and by no temptation be separated from thee; who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit ever, one God, world without end.Amen.

Almighty God, our Sovereign Lord, who didst call Cornelius the Centurion to be the first Christian amongst the Gentiles, and didst heal the servant at Capernaum in accordance with the Centurion's great faith, and didst inspire the Centurion at Calvary to glorify Jesus; strengthen us in our faith so that we might follow their example to love, serve, and glorify thee as faithful members of the Church Militant, through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Go in peace
